To say that two things or people possess an equal amount of a specific trait, use the structure la fel de ... ca (as ... as).
la fel de + adjective + ca
| The boy is as hardworking as the girl. | Băiatul este la fel de harnic ca fata. |
| My colleague is as serious as the boss. | Colegul meu este la fel de serios ca șeful. |
Adjective Agreement
The adjective must agree in gender and number with the person or thing it describes. Notice how the adjective changes depending on whether the subject is masculine or feminine:
| The man is as brave as his father. | Bărbatul este la fel de curajos ca tatăl său. |
| She is not shy, she is as funny as her sister. | Ea nu este timidă, este la fel de amuzantă ca sora ei. |
Using Pronouns
When comparing someone to "me" or "you", use the pronouns mine and tine after ca, instead of the subject forms (eu and tu).
| The new student is as shy as me. | Studentul nou este la fel de timid ca mine. |
| Your wife is as brave as you. | Soția ta este la fel de curajoasă ca tine. |
Multiple Traits
You can compare multiple traits in the same sentence. You only need to use la fel de and ca once, simply linking the adjectives with și (and):
| She is as ambitious and patient as her mother. | Ea este la fel de ambițioasă și răbdătoare ca mama ei. |
