Questions & Answers about Precisamos de mais informação.
Why is the word de in this sentence?
The verb precisar (to need) works a bit differently in Portuguese than in English. When you need a thing (a noun), you must use the preposition de right after the verb. Think of it like saying "we have need of more information".
Why isn't the word nós (we) at the beginning of the sentence?
In Portuguese, you can often leave out subject pronouns like nós because the verb ending does the work for you. The -amos ending in Precisamos already makes it perfectly clear that "we" are the ones who need it.
Informação is a feminine noun. Does mais change to match its gender?
How do I know the gender of a word like informação?
A great trick to remember is that almost all Portuguese nouns ending in -ção are feminine. If you wanted to say "the information", you would use the feminine "the" and say a informação.
