Expressing Possibility with "Dar para"

To ask "Is it possible to...?" or talk about feasibility, Portuguese uses the impersonal structure dar para followed by an infinitive verb.

Because it refers to a general "it," use the third-person singular form: .

Is it possible to display the dress on the mannequin?
Dá para expor o vestido no manequim?
It is possible to highlight the product on this display stand.
Dá para destacar o produto neste expositor.

Saying What is Not Possible

To say that something is not feasible, place não or another negative word directly before .

It is not possible to hang the coat on the hanger.
Não dá para pendurar o casaco no cabide.
It is very dark! It is not possible to see the decoration.
Está muito escuro! Não dá para ver a decoração.
It is never possible to display anything on that display stand!
Nunca dá para expor nada naquele expositor!
