Questions & Answers about Czy pracujesz z twoją koleżanką?
Why do twoją and koleżanką both end in -ą?
The preposition z (meaning 'with') requires the following words to take the Instrumental case. For feminine singular words like the pronoun twoja (your) and the noun koleżanka (friend), the ending changes to -ą in this case.
Why is the verb pracujesz and not 'pracowasz'?
The base verb is pracować (to work). Verbs ending in -ować are a special group in Polish. When conjugating them, you drop the -ować and replace it with -uj- before adding the personal ending. So, for 'you' (singular), it becomes pracujesz.
Does koleżanka mean a friend or a coworker?
It can mean both! A koleżanka is a female friend, acquaintance, schoolmate, or colleague. If a Polish speaker needs to be very specific that someone is a coworker, they might say koleżanka z pracy (friend from work).
