Questions & Answers about Przez twoją nieostrożność nie ma już cukru.
Why do we use przez here instead of another phrase for "because of", like z powodu?
In Polish, przez followed by the Accusative case is the most natural way to express a negative cause or to assign blame. While z powodu (due to / because of) is more neutral or formal, using przez twoją nieostrożność directly points the finger at someone's fault.
If przez requires the Accusative case, why doesn't the noun nieostrożność change its ending?
Nieostrożność is a feminine noun ending in a consonant (-ść). For this group of nouns, the Accusative form is exactly the same as the Nominative form. You can actually see the Accusative case working on the pronoun right before it: twoją takes the standard feminine Accusative -ą ending.
How does już translate to "left" in "there is no sugar left"?
The word już normally means "already," but when used in a negative sentence like nie ma już (there is not already / there is no longer), it translates to "not anymore" or "none left." It emphasizes that the sugar existed before but is now gone.
Why does the word for sugar (cukier) change to cukru here?
