### Progressing step by step

When working on personal growth and developing new skills, you often want to describe how things are changing over time. In Polish, the word **coraz** is used to express progressive change, much like the English phrase "more and more".

To use it, simply place **coraz** directly before a comparative adjective (like **lepszy** - better) or a comparative adverb (like **płynniej** - more fluently). Note that you only use **coraz** once, unlike the English double structure "better and better".

### Using "coraz bardziej"

Many Polish adjectives—especially longer ones like **doświadczony** (experienced), **cierpliwy** (patient), or **zaawansowany** (advanced)—do not change their endings to form a comparative. Instead, they use the helper word **bardziej** (more). 

To express ongoing development with these words, you use the phrase **coraz bardziej** (more and more) followed by the adjective in its standard form.

### Less and less: coraz mniej

Progressive change doesn't always go upward. To express "less and less", you can pair **coraz** with **mniej** (less). 

**Coraz mniej** can be used with adjectives, but it is also highly useful for talking about diminishing quantities. When you use it with a noun—such as **motywacja** (motivation)—the noun that follows must take the Genitive case, because you are talking about an amount of something.
