ドイツ　の　北きた　に　ある　小ちいさい　町まち　に　住すんで　いる。doitsu no kita ni aru chiisai machi ni sunde iru.

(I) live in a small town in the north of Germany.

風かぜ　は　西にし　から　吹ふいて　いる。kaze wa nishi kara fuite iru.

The wind is blowing from the west.

ロシア　の　東ひがし　に　ある　村むら　に　住すんで　いる。roshia no higashi ni aru mura ni sunde iru.

(He) lives in a village in the east of Russia.

息むす子こ　は　結けっ婚こんして　います。musuko wa kekkonshite imasu.

(My) son is married.

Note how the present continuous is used here to indicate on ongoing state, instead of an action in progress.

彼かの女じょ　は　一ひと人り　で　アパート　に　住すんで　いる。kanojo wa hitori de apaato ni sunde iru.

She lives alone in an apartment.

雨あめ　が　降ふって　います。ame ga futte imasu.

The rain is new information, so we use the particle が

疲つかれて　いるtsukarete iru

食たべられる　だけ　食たべて　いました。taberareru dake tabete imashita.

〜て　いる〜te iru

grammar for indicating an ongoing state or action

みんな　寝ねて　いる。minna nete iru.

Everyone is sleeping.

ポテト　サラダ　を　作つくって　います。poteto sarada o tsukutte imasu.

I'm making potato salad.

彼かれ　は　大たい変へんな　状じょう況きょう　に　います。kare wa taihenna joukyou ni imasu.

He is in a serious situation.

先さき　の　木き　の　下した　に　鶏にわとり　が　います。saki no ki no shita ni niwatori ga imasu.

There's a chicken under the tree ahead.

フェンス　の　下した　に　猫ねこ　が　いる。fensu no shita ni neko ga iru.

There's a cat under the fence.

猫ねこ　が　いなくて　困こまる。neko ga inakute komaru.

I'm troubled because my cat is missing. (because my cat is not there)

いない is the negative form of いる, and いなくて is the connective form of いない

家か庭てい　に　は　猫ねこ　が　います。katei ni wa neko ga imasu.

There is a cat in the household.

この　クラス　に　は　たくさん　の　生せい徒と　が　います。kono kurasu ni wa takusan no seito ga imasu.

There are many students in this class.

彼かれ　は　大おお勢ぜい　の　友とも達だち　が　います。kare wa oozei no tomodachi ga imasu.

He has many friends.

彼かれ　は　いつも　私わたし　の　そば　に　います。kare wa itsumo watashi no soba ni imasu.

He is always by my side.

地じ震しん　が　起おこった　時とき、　私わたし　は　家いえ　に　いました。jishin ga okotta toki, watashi wa ie ni imashita.

When the earthquake happened, I was at home.

家いえ　に　帰かえる　と、　父ちち　が　いました。ie ni kaeru to, chichi ga imashita.

When I returned home, my father was there.

私わたし　が　いない　間あいだ、　何なに　が　起おこりました　か？watashi ga inai aida, nani ga okorimashita ka?
