Questions & Answers about Domani mattina, l'assistente avrà spostato il faro dietro lo sfondo.
Why do we use avrà spostato here instead of the regular future tense?
avrà spostato is the Future Perfect tense. We use it because the assistant's action of moving the spotlight will be completely finished by the time tomorrow morning rolls around. It is formed with the future tense of avere (avrà) and the past participle of the main verb (spostato).
Does the past participle spostato need to change to agree with l'assistente or il faro?
No, it stays as spostato. When forming compound tenses with the auxiliary verb avere, the past participle does not change to match the subject or a standard direct object. It only changes if you use a direct object pronoun right before the verb, which is not happening here.
I learned that faro means lighthouse. Why is it translated as spotlight here?
faro refers to any powerful directional light. Depending on the context, it can be a lighthouse, a car headlight, or, in a studio or stage setting like this one, a spotlight. The word sfondo (background) gives us the clue that this is a theater or photography set!
Why is the article lo used in lo sfondo instead of il?
