### The irregular verb "uscire"

The verb **uscire** (to go out) is irregular in the present tense. Similar to other irregular verbs you have seen, the stem changes for all forms except **noi** and **voi**. Notice how the initial "u" changes to an "e" in most forms.

### Days of the week and routines

When talking about socializing and going out, you will often use the days of the week. In Italian, days of the week are not capitalized.

- **domenica** (Sunday)

To express a habit—like doing something "on Mondays" or "in the evenings"—simply place the definite article in front of the day or the time of day (**la sera**, **la mattina**). All days of the week are masculine and take the article **il**, except for **domenica**, which is feminine and takes **la**.

### The weekend

To talk about your weekend plans, use the phrase **il fine settimana** (the weekend). You can combine days of the week with times of day to be very specific about when you are meeting friends.
