Why doesn’t the sentence include eu?
In Portuguese, the subject pronoun is often omitted when the verb already makes it clear who the subject is.
Prefiro already means I prefer, so eu is not necessary.
- Prefiro o jogo de tabuleiro. = I prefer the board game.
- Eu prefiro o jogo de tabuleiro. = also correct, but slightly more explicit or emphatic.

What form is prefiro?
Prefiro is the first-person singular form of the verb preferir in the present tense.
