Questions & Answers about Libur ini sangat penting bagi suami saya.

Why does the sentence use “bagi” instead of “untuk,” and are they interchangeable?

Bagi and untuk can often convey a similar meaning (“for” in English). However, bagi has a slightly more formal or sometimes more “directive” tone, stressing the importance or the direct benefit. Untuk is more general and can be used in many contexts. While they can usually be interchanged without altering basic meaning, bagi can add a nuance of purpose or importance directed at a specific person—in this case, your husband.

Why say “suami saya” instead of “suamiku”?

In Indonesian, saya is a polite and neutral way of saying “I” or “my,” so suami saya is seen as formal and polite. Suamiku uses the informal -ku (my) attached to “suami.” It’s less formal and more personal, commonly used in everyday speech or writing. Both are correct—you’d choose one depending on the context or your level of formality.

Is “ini” always placed after “libur,” or can I say “ini libur sangat penting bagi suami saya”?

In Indonesian, when “ini” is used to mean “this,” it usually follows the noun. So, libur ini is the standard word order for “this holiday.” Saying ini libur would be grammatically odd in most contexts, though you might hear it in very casual or colloquial speech. For clear, standard Indonesian, put ini after the noun as in libur ini.

Why don’t we need a verb like “adalah” in this sentence?
