In Hungarian, the verb to be is usually left out in the present tense, third person when you are saying something like X is Y.
So:
- Ez a keret új. = This frame is new.
- literally: This frame new.
But in other persons, Hungarian does use the verb:
- Új vagyok. = I am new.
- Új vagy. = You are new.
And in the past or future, the verb also appears:
- Ez a keret új volt. = This frame was new.
Hungarian normally uses a demonstrative like ez (this) together with the definite article before a noun.
So:
- ez a keret = this frame
- literally something like this the frame
This is standard Hungarian structure. English does not do this, but Hungarian does.
