Questions & Answers about Η γιαγιά μου βάζει σταφίδες στο γλυκό της.
In Greek, you normally use the definite article with a noun even when it has a possessive pronoun.
So Greek says:
η γιαγιά μου = my grandmother
Literally, that looks like the grandmother my, but that is the normal Greek pattern. Leaving out η here would usually sound wrong.
Greek possessive words like μου (my), σου (your), της (her) are often placed after the noun.
So:
η γιαγιά μου = my grandmother
το σπίτι μου = my house
This is one of the biggest differences from English word order. In everyday Greek, this post-noun position is extremely common.
βάζει is the 3rd person singular present tense of βάζω.
That means it matches η γιαγιά μου = my grandmother / she.
So:
- βάζω = I put
- βάζεις = you put
- βάζει = he/she/it puts
