Learn German: Meine Partnerin liebt die Veranstaltung. Jedoch bin ich introvertiert. - My partner f loves the event. However, I am introverted.

Jedoch is an adverbial connector, which means it occupies the first position in its clause. Because German main clauses follow the verb-second (V2) rule, the conjugated verb bin must come immediately after it in position two. This pushes the subject ich into the third position.

Can I put jedoch in a different position in the sentence?

Yes! Since jedoch is an adverb, its placement is flexible. You could also say Ich bin jedoch introvertiert. In that version, the subject ich takes the first position, the verb bin stays firmly in the second position, and jedoch moves to the middle of the sentence.

Could I just use aber instead of jedoch here?

You could, but the word order would change. Aber is a coordinating conjunction, meaning it sits in position zero and doesn't count toward the word order. If you used aber, you would say Aber ich bin introvertiert. Additionally, jedoch often sounds slightly more formal or written than aber.

Is there an easy way to remember the gender of Veranstaltung?

Yes! Veranstaltung translates to event or function, and it ends with the suffix -ung. Almost all German nouns ending in -ung are feminine, which tells you immediately that it needs the feminine article die.
