Questions & Answers about Wir wollen ein großes Festival besuchen.
Why is the adjective großes instead of groß or große?
Festival is a neuter noun acting as the direct object (Accusative case). Since the indefinite article ein doesn't show a specific gender ending here, the adjective groß takes the neuter accusative ending -es to show the gender and case.
Does wollen mean "will" in English?
No, it is a common false friend! wollen means "to want". If you meant to talk about the future ("We will visit..."), you would use the verb werden instead of wollen.
Why is besuchen at the very end of the sentence?
This is the standard word order when using modal verbs like wollen. The conjugated modal verb stays in the second position, while the main verb (besuchen) gets pushed to the very end of the sentence in its basic infinitive form.
In English we might say "go to a festival." Why isn't there a preposition like "to" before the festival here?
The verb besuchen translates closer to "to visit" or "to attend". Unlike some verbs that require a fixed preposition, it takes a direct Accusative object. So you simply "visit a big festival" directly, without any extra preposition.
