Questions & Answers about Ce rachat n'est nullement un projet hostile.
How does nullement function in this sentence compared to normal negation?
It completely replaces pas to create a much stronger, more emphatic negation. While Ce rachat n'est pas un projet just means "This takeover is not a project", using ne... nullement changes it to "is in no way" or "is not at all". Notice that it wraps around the conjugated verb est exactly like standard negation.
Could I use aucunement instead of nullement here?
I thought indefinite articles like un change to de in negative sentences. Why is it nullement un projet here?
