In French, when you talk about liking, loving, or hating a general category of things, you must use a definite article (le, la, or les). To say "she doesn't like fish" in general, you say elle n'aime pas le poisson (literally "she does not like the fish").

Why is it n'aime instead of ne aime?

The negative word ne drops its e and gets an apostrophe when the next word starts with a vowel or a silent h. Since aime starts with an a, ne aime merges into n'aime to make pronunciation smoother.

Why use moi here instead of je?

moi is a stressed pronoun. In French, you must use a stressed pronoun when it stands alone or isn't directly doing the action of a verb, such as right after the word et (and). You cannot say et je non plus because je always needs a verb directly attached to it.

How does non plus mean "neither"?
