Why is there a space before the exclamation mark?
In French, punctuation marks that are made of two parts, like the exclamation mark (!), question mark (?), colon (:), and semicolon (;), always require a space before them.
Why do we use beaucoup instead of très for very much?
Beaucoup means a lot or much. Très means very, but it is only used before describing words (adjectives and adverbs), like très bien. To say thank you very much, you always use merci beaucoup, which literally means thanks a lot.
Where is the ne in pas de problème?
Normally, negative sentences have two parts: ne before the verb and pas after it. But in short everyday expressions that do not have a verb, like pas de problème (no problem), the ne is simply left out.
Why is it pas de problème and not pas un problème?
After a negative word like pas, the words for a, an, or some (un, une, des) change to de. Since you are saying there is no problem, the un from un problème turns into de.
