Questions & Answers about Continuons cet exercice intéressant.

Why does Continuons mean "Let's continue"? Where is the word for "let's"?
In French, you do not need a separate word for "let's". You just use the nous (we) form of the verb and drop the pronoun nous. Since continuer is a regular -er verb, you take the present tense nous continuons (we continue) and simply remove the nous to make the suggestion Continuons (Let's continue).
Why is it cet exercice and not ce exercice?
The word exercice is masculine, so you would normally use ce to mean "this". However, because exercice starts with a vowel, saying ce exercice is clunky. French changes ce to cet before a masculine noun starting with a vowel or a silent 'h' so the words flow smoothly together.
Why is intéressant placed after exercice?
In English, we put the adjective first ("interesting exercise"). In French, most adjectives are placed directly after the noun they describe. Only a specific group of common adjectives (usually describing Beauty, Age, Goodness, or Size) go before the noun.
Do the verb endings change when making a suggestion like Continuons?
No, for the nous and vous forms, the command or suggestion is spelled exactly the same as the regular present tense. You simply drop the subject pronoun. Keep in mind that the tu command does drop the final 's' for regular -er verbs, but our nous form here keeps its standard -ons ending.
