Why do we use la instead of le for the word table?
In French, every noun has a gender. The word table is feminine, so we use the feminine singular definite article la for the English word the.
What is the difference between La at the beginning of the sentence and là at the end?
La (without an accent) is the feminine word for the. Là (with a grave accent) is a word meaning there or here. They sound exactly the same when spoken, but the written accent mark changes the meaning entirely!
