"A" and "an": un and une
Last lesson every noun arrived with le, la or l'. To say a boy rather than the boy, French uses un or une, following the same gender:
- masculine → un: un garçon
- feminine → une: une fille
This is also how the gender of an l' noun comes back: l'homme is masculine, so un homme.
| I am a man. | Je suis un homme. |
| I am a woman. | Je suis une femme. |
| You are a boy. | Tu es un garçon. |
