Questions & Answers about انار میوهی ایران است.
Why is there a ی added to the end of میوه (mive)?
This is the ezâfe connector, which links "fruit" and "Iran" to mean "fruit of Iran". Because میوه (mive) ends in a silent ه (sounding like "e"), adding the standard "e" sound directly is hard to pronounce. Instead, Farsi uses a "ye" sound to bridge the words, written here as ی.
The translation says "The pomegranate", but where is the Farsi word for "the"?
Farsi does not have a separate word for "the". When making a general statement about a whole class of things, like "the pomegranate", Farsi just uses the plain singular noun انار (anâr). The context naturally translates to "the pomegranate" in English.
Why does the verb است (ast) come at the very end of the sentence?
Farsi word order usually puts the verb at the very end of the sentence. While English says "A is B", Farsi phrasing is "A B is". So the subject انار comes first, the description میوهی ایران comes next, and the verb است (is) finishes the thought.
Could I say میوهی ایرانی (mive-ye irâni) instead?
That would change the meaning slightly to "Iranian fruit" rather than "the fruit of Iran". Adding the ی (i) to the end of ایران (Irân) turns the country name into an adjective. Here, the sentence uses two nouns connected by an ezâfe to show that the pomegranate is the representative fruit of the country itself.
