Since both suffixes make descriptive adjectives, can I swap them and say tahdid-âvar or sharm-âmiz?

Generally, no. While both suffixes turn nouns into adjectives, they have formed fixed conventional pairings over time. A native speaker will always say tahdid-âmiz and sharm-âvar. It is best to treat these combinations as set vocabulary items.

Why is there a half-space in the middle of sharm-âvar (شرم‌آور) but not in tahdid-âmiz (تهدیدآمیز)?

In sharm-âvar, the noun sharm ends with the letter mim (م), which normally connects to the next letter. We use a half-space (zero-width non-joiner) before the suffix -âvar to keep the two parts visually separate. In tahdid-âmiz, the noun tahdid ends in dâl (د), a letter that naturally refuses to connect to the left, so no special spacing character is required.
