Questions & Answers about بعد از جلسه، دانشجویان آن مخترع، یک نابغهی واقعی، را تحسین کردند.
Why isn't there an Ezafe connecting مخترع and یک نابغهی واقعی?
This is called noun apposition (or badal). When you add a descriptive phrase that renames the previous noun—like "a true genius" renaming "that inventor"—you don't use an Ezafe to link them. Instead, you just place them side by side, usually separated by commas, exactly like in English.
Why is the object marker را placed after واقعی instead of right after مخترع?
The direct object of the verb is the entire chunk: آن مخترع، یک نابغهی واقعی (that inventor, a true genius). The object marker را must always go at the very end of the complete object phrase. Putting را directly after مخترع would wrongly separate the inventor from the appositive phrase describing him.
Why is there a ی attached to the end of نابغه if there's no Ezafe for the apposition?
That ی is an Ezafe, but it is only connecting the noun نابغه (genius) to its own adjective واقعی (true). Because نابغه ends in a silent heh (the short "e" sound), its Ezafe is written with a ی and pronounced "-ye". So while there is no Ezafe connecting the two main nouns, normal grammar rules still apply inside the appositive phrase.
I usually see the plural of student as دانشجوها. Is دانشجویان different?
They mean the same thing, but the suffix is a slightly more formal plural ending used specifically for living things (animate nouns). Because ends in a long vowel (u), a is added as a bridge for pronunciation, creating (dāneshjūyān). You will see this very often in writing or formal speech.
