Questions & Answers about آنها پرسشنامه را برای صد درصد شرکت‌کنندگان فرستادند.

Where is the word for "of" in the phrase sad darsad sherkat-konandegan (one hundred percent of the participants)?
Farsi links the percentage to the noun it describes using the ezafe vowel. It is actually pronounced sad darsad-e sherkat-konandegan. Just like when you link a noun to an adjective, this connecting ezafe is not written as a separate letter in the Farsi script.
How does the word sherkat-konandegan (participants) break down?
It comes from the verb sherkat kardan (to participate). Replacing kardan with konande creates the noun for the person doing the action. To make it plural, we add the suffix -gan, which is the plural marker used for people when the singular word ends in a silent 'h' (pronounced as 'e').
The translation says "sent to", but the Farsi uses baraye (for). Could we use be (to) here instead?
Yes! With the verb ferestadan (to send), you can use either baraye (for) or be (to). Using baraye is very natural in Farsi when sending something for someone to receive, even though English prefers to use "to".
Why does the object marker ra appear before the percentage rather than at the end of the phrase?
The word ra must immediately follow the specific direct object. The specific thing being sent is the questionnaire (porsesh-nameh), so ra attaches directly to it. The rest of the sentence, including the percentage of participants, is the indirect object phrase and comes afterward.
