Questions & Answers about دربارهی چهارمین جلد هیچچیز نمیدانم.
Why is it چهارمین جلد instead of جلد چهارم?
Both mean "the fourth volume", but they use different structures. As taught in this lesson, ordinal numbers ending in -omin (like čahāromin) go before the noun and do not take an Ezafe. If you use the standard -om form (čahārom), it goes after the noun and requires an Ezafe: jeld-e čahārom. Using the -omin form before the noun is slightly more emphatic.
Why does درباره have an added ی at the end here?
The preposition darbāre (about) requires an Ezafe to connect it to the noun phrase that follows. Because darbāre ends in a spoken "e" vowel (written with a silent "heh"), the Ezafe is pronounced as a "ye" sound to bridge the vowels and is written as -ye.
Why is the verb negative (نمیدانم) if we already used هیچچیز (nothing)?
Farsi strictly uses double negatives. Whenever you use a negative pronoun or determiner like hič-čiz (nothing) or hič-kas (nobody), the verb must also be in its negative form. So literally, the sentence says "I don't know nothing".
Since هیچچیز is the direct object, why is the object marker را missing?
The object marker rā is only used for definite direct objects, like "the book" or "David". Because hič-čiz (nothing) is inherently indefinite, it never takes rā.
