او گفت که پیام‌ها را واضح دریافت می‌کند.

From Lesson 266:Reported speech·Farsi

Questions & Answers about او گفت که پیام‌ها را واضح دریافت می‌کند.

Why does the Farsi sentence use the present tense verb دریافت می‌کند when the English translation says 'was receiving'?
In Farsi reported speech, the tense of the original statement is usually kept. When she originally spoke, she would have said, 'I am receiving the messages clearly.' Because she used the present tense in her original quote, the Farsi reported sentence keeps the present tense (دریافت می‌کند), even though the main verb گفت is in the past. English, on the other hand, usually shifts the reported verb to the past.
If she originally said 'I am receiving', why does the verb end in third-person instead of first-person?
Even though Farsi reported speech keeps the original tense (present), it changes the pronoun and verb ending to match the subject being talked about. Since we are reporting what 'she' (او) said, the verb takes the third-person singular ending instead of the first-person ending (دریافت می‌کنم).
واضح usually means 'clear'. How does it mean 'clearly' here without any extra words?
In Farsi, many adjectives can be used directly as adverbs to describe an action without changing their form. While you could say به طور واضح (in a clear manner), simply placing the adjective واضح before the verb is a very common and natural way to say 'clearly'.
Why is را placed after پیام‌ها in this sentence?
را is the definite direct object marker. Because she is receiving specific messages ('the messages' rather than just 'some messages' in general), we must add را right after the plural noun پیام‌ها to show it is the specific target of the action.
