Questions & Answers about اگه این پرونده جعلی باشه، مظنون قتل رو انکار میکنه.
Why do we use bâshe instead of ast for 'is' in the first half of the sentence?
In Farsi, when you set up a condition using age (if), the verb in that 'if' clause must be in the subjunctive mood. bâshe is the present subjunctive form of 'to be' for the third-person singular, referring to the file.
The English translation says 'will deny,' but enkâr mikone is present tense. Why?
For future results in 'if' sentences (real conditionals), conversational Farsi almost always uses the present indicative tense (mi- verb) rather than the formal future tense. While enkâr mikone literally means 'denies', in this context it perfectly translates to 'will deny'.
How do we know maznun (suspect) isn't the direct object being denied?
The placement of the direct object marker ro tells us exactly what is receiving the action. It comes immediately after qatl (murder), making 'the murder' the direct object. maznun comes before it and acts as the subject of the sentence.
This lesson focuses on doubt about past events using the Present Perfect Subjunctive. Why don't we see that tense here?
Because this sentence sets up a standard 'if' condition about a present state (the file being fake right now), not a doubt about a completed past action. If you wanted to express past doubt, like 'I doubt the file was fake', then you would use the Present Perfect Subjunctive: shak dâram in parvande ja'li bude bâshe.
