Questions & Answers about قهوهی ایرانی صادر میشود.
How does this sentence form the present passive meaning is exported?
It pairs the word sāder (exported) with mi-shavad, which is the present tense it becomes form of the verb shodan. In Farsi, the present passive is formed by combining a participle or adjective with the present tense of shodan.
The lesson says the passive uses a past participle, but sāder does not end in the usual -e sound. Why?
Great observation! For simple Farsi verbs, the passive uses a true past participle (like neveshte for written). But sāder mi-shavad is a compound verb. With compound verbs, you simply keep the non-verb part (sāder) exactly as it is, and you do not need to add a Farsi past participle ending.
If the active verb for to export is sāder kardan, how do we remember the passive form?
For most compound verbs ending in kardan (to do / to make), you can easily make them passive by swapping out kardan for shodan (to become). So, sāder kardan (to export) naturally becomes sāder shodan (to be exported).
Why is there an extra letter ی attached to the end of ghahve (coffee)?
This is the Ezāfe, which links the noun ghahve to the describing adjective irāni. Because ghahve ends in a silent h (the letter ه), we cannot just add a short vowel sound. We must add the letter ی (ye) to act as a bridge between the two words.
