Learn Farsi: ظاهراً کیفیت این لباس نسبتاً خوب است. - Apparently the quality of this clothing is relatively good.

This ending is pronounced as 'an' and it turns a noun or adjective into an adverb. It is a grammar rule borrowed from Arabic. For example, the adjective ظاهر (zâher, meaning apparent) becomes the adverb ظاهراً (zâheran, meaning apparently).

Why is there an extra alef (the straight vertical letter) added to the end of ظاهراً and نسبتاً?

The 'an' adverb suffix is written by adding an alef plus two small diagonal strokes on top (called a tanvin). In everyday writing, Persians often skip typing the two little diagonal strokes to save time, but the extra alef must always be written!

Where is the word for 'of' in 'the quality of this clothing'?

There is no separate word for 'of' here because Farsi uses the Ezafe rule to show this connection. You simply add a short 'e' sound to the end of کیفیت (keyfiyat, quality) to link it to این لباس (in lebâs, this clothing), making it keyfiyat-e in lebâs.

Does لباس (lebâs) refer to a specific type of clothing, like a dress?

لباس is a versatile word that can mean clothes in general, or a specific garment like a dress or suit. Here, combined with این (in, this), it usually refers to a specific outfit or piece of clothing that the speaker is looking at.
