Questions & Answers about معلم برای این سوال جواب ندارد.
Why is "does not have" nadârad instead of nemidârad?
The verb "to have" (dâshtan) is a special verb in Farsi. In the present tense, it doesn't use the usual mi- prefix. To make it negative, we just add the negative prefix na- directly to the stem, giving us nadârad (he/she/it does not have).
Is nadârad how people actually say it in everyday conversation?
Usually, no! Nadârad is the formal, written form. In everyday spoken Farsi, the third-person ending -ad often softens to an -e sound, so people will typically say nadâre.
Why does the word for "for" (barâ-ye) have a "ye" sound at the end?
The base word for "for" is barâ. Because it connects to the following phrase ("this question"), it needs a linking sound called the ezâfe. Since barâ ends in a long vowel, the ezâfe takes the form of a -ye sound to make pronunciation smoother, becoming barâ-ye.
The English translation says "an answer," but I don't see a word for "an" in the Farsi sentence. Why?
Farsi doesn't strictly require words like "a" or "an" when talking about general objects. The plain noun javâb works perfectly on its own to express the idea of having "an answer."
Why is the verb nadârad at the very end of the sentence?
