Infinitives as Subjects

In Persian, turning an action into a concept—like changing "to fight" into "fighting"—is straightforward. Use the full infinitive form of the verb, which always ends in ـَن (like کردن or کشیدن).

To use a verb as the subject of a sentence, place the infinitive at the beginning of the clause. This functions exactly like English gerunds (words ending in "-ing").

Compound verbs stay exactly the same when acting as nouns:

When a verbal noun is the direct object of another verb, it acts just like a specific noun and takes the direct object marker را.
