Asking "Right?" (مگر نه؟)
When you want to double-check a fact or ask for confirmation, simply state your assumption and add مگر نه؟ to the very end of the sentence. This is the equivalent of asking "..., right?" or "..., isn't it?".
| The system is working now, isn't it? | الان سیستم کار میکند، مگر نه؟alân sistem kâr mikonad, magar na? |
| The cable connects to the network, right? | کابل به شبکه وصل میشود، مگر نه؟kâbel be shabake vasl mishavad, magar na? |
| When you click, you see the error, right? | وقتی که کلیک میکنی، خطا را میبینی، مگر نه؟vaghti ke klik mikoni, khatâ râ mibini, magar na? |
Asking "Isn't that right?" (اینطور نیست؟)
Another very common question tag is اینطور نیست؟. It literally means "is it not this way?", and you can use it exactly like مگر نه؟ to seek agreement or confirm details.
| You turned off the system yesterday, didn't you? | دیروز سیستم را خاموش کردی، اینطور نیست؟dirooz sistem râ khâmoosh kardi, intor nist? |
| We must restart the system, isn't that right? | ما باید سیستم را ریاستارت کنیم، اینطور نیست؟mâ bâyad sistem râ ri-estârt konim, intor nist? |
| They clicked on the file, didn't they? | آنها روی فایل کلیک کردند، اینطور نیست؟ânhâ ruye fâyl kelik kardand, in towr nist? |
These question tags do not change their form based on the subject of the sentence or the verb tense. You can safely add them to the end of any declarative statement to turn it into a question.
