Negative Indefinite Pronouns

In Persian, to say "nobody," "nothing," or "nowhere," you use the word هیچ (none / any) combined with the base words for person (کس), thing (چیز), and place (جا).

  • هیچ‌کس (nobody / no one)
  • هیچ‌چیز (nothing)
  • هیچ‌جا (nowhere)

The Double Negative Rule

Unlike English, Persian requires a double negative structure. When you use a negative indefinite pronoun in a sentence, the main verb must also be negative.

Literally, you translate these sentences as "Nobody wasn't there" or "I didn't feel nothing."
