Inclusive correlatives (che... che...)

Designing with Fabrics

When discussing clothing design, you will often talk about a fabric's material (جنس), whether a piece is simple (ساده) or patterned (طرح‌دار), and the overall combination (ترکیب).

Inclusive Correlatives: "Whether... Or..."

To express that an outcome remains the same regardless of two alternative conditions, Farsi uses the inclusive correlative conjunctions چه ... چه ... (whether ... or ...).

You can use these directly with adjectives or nouns to present the alternatives:

Using "چه ... چه ..." with Verbs

When the alternatives involve actions or states of being, you can frame full clauses with چه ... چه .... If the verb is the same in both conditions, it is usually dropped in the second half for a more natural flow.

You can also use this structure to contrast two different objects within the same action, such as choosing between different patterns (الگو).

Sentence Placement

The چه ... چه ... structure is flexible. While it often appears at the beginning of a sentence to establish the alternatives right away, you can also place it at the end to emphasize the main outcome first.
