Setting up a market stall requires a strict routine. To describe a sequence of tasks and say "before [doing something]," Farsi uses قبل از اینکه or پیش از اینکه.
Because the action in the "before" clause has not yet happened at the time of the main action, the verb that follows must be in the present subjunctive.
| An early-rising seller wakes up before the sun rises.
The "before" clause can easily sit at the beginning of your sentence to set the stage for your routine at the stall (غرفه).
| Before I arrive at the stall, I drink coffee. |
Notice how the subjunctive verb in the "before" clause matches the person doing that specific action, such as handling the rolling shutter (کرکره) or the awning (سایبان).
| Before I open the rolling shutter, I clean the stall. |
| Before we arrange the wares, we open the awning. |
As the morning progresses, you prepare for the customers.
| Before the customers arrive, I put the fruits on the scale. |
Finally, at the end of the shift, it is time to count the till (دخل).
| Before I go home, I count the till. |
Whether the "before" clause is at the front of the sentence or trails at the end, it always triggers the subjunctive.
| I wake up with the sunrise, before the city gets crowded. |
