Places in Town
Three buildings to add to your mental map. The داروخانه (pharmacy) is where you buy دارو — the ‑خانه ending (house) builds place-words all over Persian. A فروشگاه is a big store — larger than the مغازه you already know — built from فروش (sale) plus the place-suffix ‑گاه. The کلیسا (church) joins the taught مسجد on the map of places of worship.
| Where is the pharmacy? dâru khâne kojâst? |
| I buy medicine from the pharmacy. |
| This store is big. |
| I buy clothes from the store. |
| That church is old. |
| The church is near our house. |
Getting Around
Take a تاکسی, buy a بلیط (ticket) for the قطار or اتوبوس — and note that بلیط, like تاکسی, is a French loan that Persian has fully adopted.
| I go home by taxi. |
| The taxi is expensive. |
| I have a train ticket. |
| How much is the ticket? belit chand ast? |
Getting On — or Walking
Boarding uses سوار with شدن: سوارِ اتوبوس شدن is to get on the bus. The alternative is going پیاده — on foot.
| I get on the bus. |
| He got on the train. |
| I go to school on foot. |
| Going on foot is good. |
