Additive emphasis (na tanhâ... balkeh...)

To express "not only... but also...", Farsi uses the paired conjunctions نه تنها ... بلکه.

The second clause usually includes هم (also/too) before the verb to reinforce the addition. The general formula is: نه تنها [A]، بلکه [B] هم.

Actions and the Indicative Mood

Unlike some conjunctions that trigger the subjunctive, نه تنها ... بلکه states actual facts or events. Therefore, the verbs in both clauses remain in the indicative mood (standard present or past tenses).

You can use this structure to connect nouns, adjectives, or entire verbal clauses, such as detailing how a new concept vehicle operates.

Using the Past Tense

Because this structure connects factual statements, you can seamlessly use it with past tense verbs to describe a sequence of impressive events that have already occurred.
