Questions & Answers about Možemo li odgoditi ovaj termin za poslije?
What exactly does termin mean when talking about schedules?
While it sounds like the English word term, termin in Croatian usually means an appointment, a scheduled time, or a time slot. If you call a doctor, a hair salon, or set up a meeting, you are asking for a termin.
Why is the question formed with li here?
In standard Croatian, forming a yes/no question by putting the verb first followed by the question particle li (Možemo li) is the most correct and polite way. You will also hear Da li možemo in everyday casual speech, but they mean the exact same thing.
Why does the word termin not change its ending since it is the direct object?
It is actually in the accusative case, but you cannot see a change! For masculine nouns that represent non-living things like termin, the accusative case form is exactly the same as the nominative dictionary form. That is why it stays ovaj termin instead of taking an extra ending like living things do.
How does the phrase za poslije work when rescheduling?
Za poslije means for later. The preposition za is very useful when moving appointments to a new time. You can combine it with other time words you have learned, such as za sutra (for tomorrow) or za petak (for Friday).
