Questions & Answers about Imamo tri primjera.
Why is it primjera and not a regular plural word for "examples"?
This is the special rule for numbers 2, 3, and 4! After these numbers, masculine nouns like primjer (example) must take the genitive singular ending, which is -a. So, instead of a normal plural, we say tri primjera (literally: three of example).
Doesn't the verb imati (to have) usually need the accusative case?
Yes, it normally does! But when there is a number involved, the rule for the number is stronger. Because of the number tri, the noun must be in the genitive singular, overriding the usual accusative case rule for the verb.
Where is the word for "we"?
The pronoun mi (we) is dropped here. In Croatian, you usually leave out pronouns like "I", "you", or "we" because the ending of the verb tells you who is acting. The -mo ending on imamo already means "we have".
