Learn Croatian: Danas moram završiti posao. - Today I must finish the job.

The verb moram means "I must" or "I have to". In Croatian, you usually drop the subject pronoun (like ja for "I") because the ending of the verb (-am) already tells us exactly who is doing the action.

Why does the second verb završiti end in -ti?

When you use a modal verb like morati (must), the action verb that follows it stays in the infinitive (the dictionary form). This form usually ends in -ti or -ći. So, moram završiti translates directly to "I must finish".

Is posao in the accusative case here since it is the direct object?

Yes! posao (job or work) is the direct object of the verb završiti, so it is in the accusative case. However, because it is a masculine inanimate noun (it is not a living thing), its accusative form looks exactly the same as its dictionary form.

Could I put the word danas (today) at the end of the sentence instead?

Yes, you can say Moram završiti posao danas. Both are correct. Putting time words like danas at the beginning of the sentence is just a very natural way to set the scene and emphasize when something has to be done.
