"With me" and "With you"
To invite people out or explain who you are spending time with, you need to use personal pronouns in the instrumental case. These are almost always paired with the preposition s (with).
When a word starts with certain consonants or heavy consonant clusters (like the mn in mnom), s becomes sa to make pronunciation easier.
| Person | Pronoun | Instrumental | With... |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | ja | mnom | sa mnom |
| You (singular) | ti | tobom | s tobom |
| Do you want to have dinner with me? | Želiš li večerati sa mnom? |
| I am having dinner with you. | Večeram s tobom. |
"With him" and "With her"
The third-person singular pronouns also change significantly in the instrumental case. Notice that "he" and "it" share the exact same form.
| Person | Pronoun | Instrumental | With... |
|---|---|---|---|
| He / It | on / ono | njim | s njim |
| She | ona | njom | s njom |
| They met up with him yesterday. | Jučer su se sastali s njim. |
| He wants to meet up with her. | On se želi sastati s njom. |
Plural Pronouns
The plural instrumental pronouns are very straightforward and share a consistent -ma ending.

| You (plural/formal) | vi | vama | s vama |
