Immediate temporal clauses (čim)

"As Soon As" (Čim)

To express that something will happen immediately after an action is completed, use the conjunction čim (as soon as).

As soon as you click on the link, the system will open the app.
Čim klikneš na poveznicu, sustav će otvoriti aplikaciju.

Perfective Verbs with Čim

When describing a sequence of future events, the verb following čim takes the present tense of the perfective aspect. The main clause uses the standard future tense to describe what happens next.

As soon as you confirm the payment, the system will process the request.
Čim potvrdite uplatu, sustav će obraditi zahtjev.
As soon as we process your payment, we will send you a notification.
Čim obradimo vašu uplatu, poslat ćemo vam obavijest.

Clause Order

A temporal clause starting with čim can be placed at the beginning or end of a sentence.

When the čim clause comes first, use a comma.

As soon as the system confirms the payment, the delivery will start automatically.
Čim sustav potvrdi uplatu, dostava će automatski krenuti.

When the čim clause comes second, no comma is needed.

You will have access as soon as you download our app.
Imat ćeš pristup čim preuzmeš našu aplikaciju.
You will automatically get access as soon as you confirm your address.
Automatski ćeš dobiti pristup čim potvrdiš svoju adresu.
