A job advertisement is one of the densest pieces of real-world Polish a learner will meet, and it is built almost entirely out of nouns rather than verbs. Where English writes "you will manage the team" and "we require fluent English," Polish recruitment prose nominalises everything: zarządzanie zespołem ("managing the team") and wymagana znajomość angielskiego ("required knowledge of English"). Two patterns dominate — poszukujemy + genitive ("we are seeking [someone]") and a long list of verbal nouns governing further genitives. Once you can parse this register, you can read any ogłoszenie o pracę. The advert below is written for this page; it is typical in form and vocabulary.

poszukiwać / poszukujemy + genitive: "we are seeking [someone]"
The recruiting verb is poszukiwać ("to seek, to look for"), a slightly more formal cousin of szukać, and like szukać it governs the genitive. So the company poszukuje pracownika ("seeks an employee," pracownik → pracownika), poszukuje specjalisty ("seeks a specialist"), poszukuje kandydatów ("seeks candidates," genitive plural). The first-person plural poszukujemy is the conventional voice of the advert — the company speaking as "we." This is genitive government, not a direct accusative: you are seeking of a person, exactly as with szukać.

The class of verbs that demand the genitive — szukać, poszukiwać, potrzebować, wymagać — is surveyed on genitive after verbs.
Verbal nouns: the listing register
Notice that the duties and requirements are not full clauses but verbal nouns (gerunds): obsługa ("handling," from obsługiwać), prowadzenie ("keeping/conducting," from prowadzić), współpraca ("cooperation"), znajomość ("knowledge," from znać), umiejętność ("ability"). Each then governs a further case — usually the genitive of the thing acted on: obsługa zapytań ("handling of inquiries"), prowadzenie dokumentacji ("keeping of records"), znajomość języka ("knowledge of the language"). This is the nominal style: instead of "you will handle inquiries and keep records," the advert stacks noun upon noun. It is impersonal, compact, and bureaucratic — and it is the default for any official listing.

Why does Polish lean so hard on verbal nouns here? Because the listing format has no grammatical subject — there is no "you" or "the candidate" to attach a verb to — so the action is expressed as a thing, a heading, that the reader scans. The formation of verbal nouns (-anie, -enie, -cie) and their genitive complements are on verbal nouns and gerunds, and the wider nominal style on nominalization.
oferujemy + accusative: what the company gives
When the advert switches from what it wants to what it gives, the case switches too. Oferować ("to offer") takes a straightforward accusative object: oferujemy stabilne zatrudnienie ("we offer stable employment"), oferujemy atrakcyjne wynagrodzenie ("an attractive salary"), pakiet benefitów ("a benefits package"). The contrast is instructive: poszukujemy / wymagamy govern the genitive (seeking, requiring), while oferujemy governs the accusative (offering). The case itself signals the rhetorical move from demand to inducement.

The impersonal–administrative voice
The advert never says "I" or "you." It speaks as poszukujemy / oferujemy / prosimy / skontaktujemy się ("we seek / offer / ask / will contact") — the corporate first-person plural — and addresses the reader obliquely as osoby zainteresowane ("interested persons") and wybrani kandydaci ("selected candidates"). The request to apply is the fixed formula prosimy o + accusative: prosimy o przesłanie CV ("we ask for the sending of a CV"), again a verbal noun (przesłanie) standing in for "please send." The closing skontaktujemy się wyłącznie z wybranymi kandydatami ("we will contact only selected candidates," z + instrumental) is the polite institutional brush-off every applicant learns to recognise.
