Questions & Answers about Duygularını kelimelerle ifade etti.
The word duygularını has two -ı suffixes separated by an -n-. What does each part do?
The first -ı is the 3rd person possessive suffix, creating "her feelings" (duyguları). The second -ı is the accusative case marker, which is required because "her feelings" is the specific direct object being expressed. The -n- is the buffer consonant you must always use when attaching any case marker to a 3rd person possessive suffix.
Why is the instrumental suffix -le used in kelimelerle to mean 'in words'?
While English says you express something 'in' words, Turkish views words as the tool or instrument used to do the expressing, making it closer to 'with words' or 'by means of words'. Using the locative -de (kelimelerde) would sound like the feelings are physically trapped inside the words.
Since the current lesson focuses on açısından / bakımından (in terms of), could I say kelimeler açısından ifade etti?
Not if you want to say "in words." If you used kelimeler açısından, it would mean "from the perspective of words" or "as far as words go," which completely changes the meaning. To express the medium used to convey the feelings, you need the instrumental -le.
Could I use sözcük instead of kelime in this sentence?
