Learn Turkish: Zorlanırsan, hamallar yardım eder. - If you have difficulty, the movers will help.

It builds up step-by-step! The adjective zor takes the suffix -la to become the active verb zorlamak (to force). Adding the reflexive/passive suffix -n turns it into zorlanmak (to struggle, to have difficulty). Finally, we add the aorist tense -ır, the conditional -sa (if), and the personal ending -n (you), giving us zorlanırsan: "if you struggle" or "if you have difficulty".

Why do both the "if" part and the result use the aorist tense (-ır and -er) instead of the future tense?

In Turkish, standard "open" conditions about the future (like "If X happens, Y will happen") often use the aorist tense in both halves of the sentence. Zorlanırsan implies "if it happens that you struggle," and yardım eder expresses a natural, willing, or guaranteed response rather than just a dry future fact. It means "they are ready and willing to help."

Since the subject is plural (hamallar), why doesn't the verb have a plural ending like yardım ederler?

In Turkish, when a 3rd-person plural subject is explicitly stated using the -lar or -ler suffix (like hamallar), it is very common and grammatically correct to leave the plural suffix off the verb. Saying hamallar yardım eder sounds perfectly natural, though hamallar yardım ederler would also be fine.

Is a hamal specifically a furniture mover?

A hamal is a porter or anyone whose profession is carrying heavy loads. In the context of moving houses, it refers to the hired movers who carry your furniture, but you will also see the word used for baggage porters at stations or load carriers in wholesale markets.
