Questions & Answers about İki taktik var, hangisi daha iyi?
Why do we use hangisi here instead of just hangi?
Hangi is an adjective meaning "which", so it must be followed by a noun, like hangi taktik (which tactic). When you drop the noun to just say "which one" or "which of them", you must add the 3rd person possessive suffix -(s)i. So, hangisi acts as a pronoun meaning "which of them".
Since there are two tactics, why isn't it iki taktikler?
In Turkish, whenever you put a specific number before a noun, the noun must remain singular. You never use the plural suffixes -lar or -ler immediately after a number.
Where is the word for "is" in hangisi daha iyi?
There isn't one! In the present tense, third-person subjects (like he, she, it, or "which one") don't need a "to be" verb suffix when being described by an adjective. You simply put the subject and the adjective together.
How does daha change the meaning of iyi here?
Daha means "more". Turkish doesn't have irregular comparative words like the English "better". Instead, you just place daha before the adjective. So daha iyi literally means "more good", which translates to "better".
