Questions & Answers about Köprü açılalı bölge çok hızlı gelişmiş.

How do we get "since the bridge opened" from açılalı?
This is our new grammar rule for "since an event happened". We start with açmak (to open). We add the passive suffix -ıl to get açılmak (to be opened). Finally, we drop the infinitive and add the elapsed time suffix -alı, giving us açılalı (since it was opened).
Why do we use the passive açılmak here? Could we just say açalı?
If we said köprü açalı, it would sound like the bridge opened something else, like a door! Because açmak requires an object to open, we have to make it passive (açılmak) when the bridge is the thing being opened.
Why is the main verb gelişmiş (with -miş) instead of the regular past tense gelişti?
The -miş suffix is used for inferred or reported past tense. The speaker didn't sit there watching the region develop day by day. They arrived, saw the results, and deduced that it developed very fast. That's why the English translation adds "Apparently".
hızlı means "fast". Do we need to add a suffix to make it an adverb?
No! In Turkish, many adjectives can be used directly as adverbs to describe a verb without changing their form. Here, hızlı simply sits right before the verb gelişmiş to say how the development happened.
