Pazartesi de çalışıyorum.

From Lesson 54:Days of the week·Turkish

Questions & Answers about Pazartesi de çalışıyorum.

Why isn't there a word for 'on' with Pazartesi?
In English, we say 'on Monday', but in Turkish, you don't use any preposition or suffix for days of the week when stating when an action happens. You just use the plain word Pazartesi.
Why is de written as a separate word here?
When de or da is written with a space, it means 'too' or 'also' (Monday too). If it were attached to the noun as a suffix, it would be the location suffix meaning 'in', 'on', or 'at'.
If de is a separate word, why does its spelling change?
Even though it sits on its own, the word for 'too' still follows vowel harmony based on the word right before it. Since Pazartesi ends with the front vowel i, the particle must be the front-vowel de rather than da.
Where is the word 'I' in this sentence?
The 'I' is built into the verb! Çalışıyorum is made of the root çalış- (work), the present continuous suffix -ıyor (like English '-ing'), and the personal suffix -um (I). Since the verb ending already tells us who is working, dropping the pronoun Ben is perfectly natural here.
