To express that two choices are equally trivial and won't change the outcome, use the correlative conjunction ha ... ha ... ("whether [A] or [B]"). Just place ha before each option.
The options can be verbs, nouns, pronouns, or locations.
| Whether you stayed here or there, it's unimportant to me. | Ha burada kaldın ha orada, benim için önemsiz. |
| Whether you said it or I did, the outcome is no different. | Ha sen söyledin ha ben, netice farksız. |
Emphasizing Apathy
Because ha ... ha ... sets up a situation where the choice doesn't matter, the second half of the sentence usually expresses indifference. Look for words like önemsiz (unimportant), farksız (no different), or verbs showing a lack of effect.
| Whether you spoke or stayed quiet, the result is no different. | Ha konuştun ha sustun, netice farksız. |
| Whether you cry or laugh, it has no effect at all. | Ha ağla ha gül, hiç tesir etmez. |
Not Caring: umurunda olmamak
To express complete apathy toward an outcome, you will often see the idiom umurunda olmamak (to not care / to not be someone's concern).
| to not care / to not be someone's concern | umurunda olmamak |
When using this idiom with ha ... ha ..., you can easily contrast direct opposites—such as doing something versus not doing it—by repeating the same verb in the positive and negative.
| For years, whether we found a cure or not, nobody cared. | Yıllar boyunca ha çare bulduk ha bulmadık, kimsenin umurunda olmadı. |
Using with Nouns
Ha ... ha ... doesn't require full clauses. It can connect simple noun phrases just as easily.
| Whether it's yesterday's meeting or tomorrow's, they are all unimportant. | Ha dünkü toplantı ha yarınki, hepsi önemsiz. |
